  • Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe has been sidelined with a knee problem that could keep him out for several months.

The 26-year-old Frenchman sustained the injury in training last week and was forced to undergo surgery. The club have not revealed the extent of his伤势, but it is thought he will be out for six to eight weeks.

Kimpembe has been a key player for PSG this season, making 17 appearances in all competitions and contributing to their Champions League win. He also played in France's Euro 2020 squad, although he did not feature in the tournament due to a thigh injury.

The loss of Kimpembe is a blow to PSG, who have struggled without their defensive rock since they lost captain Marquinhos to a cruciate ligament tear earlier this year.

However, the club have plenty of options at the back, including Thiago Silva, Raphael Varane and Marco Verratti,Saudi Pro League Focus who has stepped up into the central defence role.

Meanwhile, the injury news comes as PSG continue to face pressure from their rivals in the race for the Ligue 1 title. They currently trail league leaders Lyon by just one point and must win their remaining games if they want to retain their title.

Injuries have been a major issue for PSG this season, with key players such as Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani all missing significant periods through injury. But the club remain confident of lifting another trophy this season, even without their top stars.

It remains to be seen how long Kimpembe will be out, but it is clear that he will miss a crucial part of the season for PSG. In the meantime, the club will need to rely on their other defenders to step up and fill the void left by Kimpembe's absence.
