  • Rafael "Rafa" Silva is one of the most influential coaches in the history of football. He has won numerous titles and trophies with his teams, including two UEFA Champions League victories, and he is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time.

Silva was born in Portugal in 1966 and began his coaching career at the age of 24. He quickly rose through the ranks and became a coach for several clubs before being appointed as the head coach of Benfica in 2008. In just three years, Silva transformed the club from a struggling team to a dominant force in Portuguese football.

One of Silva's biggest achievements at Benfica was leading them to their first UEFA Champions League victory in 2004. The team had struggled throughout the season, but Silva managed to turn things around by implementing a new tactical system that focused on pressing high up the pitch and attacking with pace and skill.

Under Silva's leadership, Benfica also won the Portuguese Super Cup in 2005 and the Portuguese Championship in 2007. They also reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League in 2008,La Liga Frontline where they were defeated by eventual champions AC Milan.

Silva's influence on Benfica's starting XI can be seen in many ways. He emphasized the importance of speed and technical ability over brute strength, and this led to a more balanced and dynamic team. His tactical approach also encouraged players to play with flair and creativity, which helped to create goals and win matches.

Despite his success at Benfica, Silva has not yet been able to bring his team to the pinnacle of European football. However, his legacy as one of the greatest coaches in Portuguese football will continue to inspire future generations of coaches and players.
